I’m only flesh and blood

Dancing at Bohannon Jungle's birthday

Last thursday night I went to a birthday party in SL, a surprise party actually. One of the owners of Bohannon Soul & Funk venue, Djungle, was celebrating that day an important personal birthday (a Real Life one), and the crew and friends from Bohannon organized a fresh new party for her, with the support of the great music of DJ Finn, another pillar of the club. It was fun, the company was delicious, the music – inspired mostly from the ’50s – was stellar. My friend Martin (seen from the back in the pic) came with me and had the opportunity to know many SL usersĀ coming from his home country, Germany. A lot of people stepped by, and Djungle seemed to be really happy of the surprise.. You can see her in all her astonishing elegance dancing right behind me in the picture, on a blue/red dress and red shoes..

I try to go often to listen to funk (my passion) at Bohannon, and this wasn’t a totally new thing for me, but after the party I found myself thinking once again to the strong links that people tie up through a someway total virtual social media like Second Life, where each one of us can’t help but take his/her own soul but also a “new” me, not necessarily the exact copy of the person we are in Real Life. But the bonds that people tighten in here never cease to amaze me, and they are perhaps the most beautiful and touching thing about my journey through this “metaverse”. It’s something we know, it’s also something been studied by people who deal with social relationships in the digital age. Nothing new.
But the feeling I had when I left the party (and the new location built only few hours before to house the celebration), that was new. I felt happy and proud to be part of all this. And to be able to enrich my life with so many new friends from all over the world. That’s it.

Wish you a good weekend, and below, as usual, some details about this outfit I really like (photo taken at Bohannon’s regular location)..

Modeling (and kissing) for a better world

Neybah setting up for modeling

I’m here wondering if you will join tonight (early afternoon in USA).. at the lovely venue set up by the wonderful Trouble Tavern and Lounge, and the great team behind this place.
At 12pm SLT time, meaning 9pm Central Europe time, many wonderful models (I’ll try to be one of them) will be gathering together to support a charity event called Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show, to help support Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. You’ll attend the fashion show and there will be also a really fun initiative, meaning two “kissing booths” (to help to ā€œkiss cancer goodbyeā€) where people would be able to taste the scent and the fragrance of some models’ lips, because love is the real energy which makes the world go round. This is starting even earlier at 11am SLT for those of you who want to .. warm up. But if you are late you’ll find some pro kissers later too šŸ™‚ Ā More, music from DJs and everything you might want to expect to have a real fun. Here’s your Second Life limo:

Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show

We’ll show ourselves, our beauty, maybe our dancing skills – and for sure our sense of humour I hope – as well as our… breasts, yes. Because the world can always improve through the effort of each one of us, also a little effort, as this time for me. And Second Life is a wonderful platform to raise funds for some who are in need, IĀ haveĀ checked it out myself.Ā See you later there!

My uncovered [DJ] dream

Neybah djing

Ok.. my secret dream is uncovered.. being a DJ. When wanderingĀ around SL’s sims, sometimes I find some empty clubs and venues, and the DJ console and turntables are there, unused and silent.Ā I glance furtively around, and if nobody is there I jump behind the DJ console and switch on everything I can.. Then I start to spin my dreams and beats all around..

If you want “to listen” to this picture, right now, just click this beautiful SoundCloud mix by the great DJ Naiki, dedicated to the Queen Erikah Badu (no extra words needed to describe her music, I swim happily in it anytime I can). Here:

I was not actually at a club here, but on a wooden platform on the wonderful sim of Pino, which always worth a visit. I place I love.
I was in my super relaxed fashion mood here, and you’ll find the details of my comfortable outfit down here as usual. The loose tanktop and the old weekenders (that I own since 2 years now.. ehe) give me a feeling of simple comfort that is perfect for me when wandering around alone inworld.
Can you hear the beat? Are you bouncing around in front of your keyboard? Let me know. Kisses from Neibah Ā ā¤

AfroPunk. Carnival of (black) consciousness

A post about a RL (Real Life) event? Wasn’t this blog supposed to be devoted entirely to Second Life and his virtual world? Yep. And it will. But this has to do with it. And everything is connected..
Second Life is about imagination, music, art, identity. All these ingredients were also in that wonderful event which took place last saturday September 24th in London. AfroPunk Festival London was an entire day/night full of people, fashion, art, music, food, related to Africa some way and to Black culture in general. When I saw the news on BBC, I was astonished seeing how much people (black or not) were partying together and showing their best side.. a kind of “Carnival of Consciousness“, as the claim of the next edition that will take place in Atlanta US, next october.
Yes, because AfroPunk festival was born in Brooklyn and has expanded to Europe, Paris and London, adding some other editions in the US.

ap-2

I never had the opportunity to attendĀ such an AP event, but I’ll look forward to be in Paris next edition. Because just like our beloved Second Life, this is a Real Life opportunity to reflect about culture, exchange experiences, dance, talk, simply have fun partying.. Be human, eventually. Such an inspiration.
Give a look at the AfroPunk website, at their Instagram, Twitter and FB linked below, and at the BBC tv report linked up here. And if you want to feel a bit of Africa while reading and watching, here you can find a suggestion for something to listen to..

Oh.. last thing.. If someone here in SL had the possibility to attend one of these events, please let me know your thoughts. Or if you know there is something similar in SL, I just saw there’s a Black Rock Rebels group linked to people involved in AP. Maybe I just don’t know.. See ya soon!
